RM of Parkdale No. 498 Farms, Farmland & Acreages for Sale

The RM of Parkdale No. 498 has its office in the village of Glaslyn, where Highways 3 and 4 run through. Several places I already cover sit inside it: Glaslyn itself, Little Loon Lake Regional Park, 5 km east of Glaslyn on Highway 3, and the east shore of Turtle Lake, where the Resort Village of Turtle View is. The organized hamlet of Fairholme is in the RM too.

Nearly all of the RM is rated for some kind of farming. The provincial soil survey for the RM (Saskatchewan Land Resource Centre, 1997) puts close to half of its area in capability classes 2 and 3, the soils it rates suitable for sustained crop production, and about a quarter in class 4, which it calls marginal. Close to a fifth is class 5 or 6, which it limits to hay and pasture. None of it is class 1.

Within that, quarters vary a lot. When I compare land here I look at the soil class and how much of a quarter is actually cultivated, drainage, distance to Highway 3 or 4, and, toward Turtle Lake and Little Loon, whether the lake adds recreational value on top of the farm value.
